Terms of Service
Rollster is operated by Cristian Jesús Torres Pacheco, an individual professional based in Mexico ("we," "us," or "Rollster"). These terms govern your use of Rollster. By creating an organization account, you agree to them. If you're accepting on behalf of a school, company, or other organization, you're confirming you have the authority to do so.
1. What Rollster is
Rollster is attendance and check-in software: registering participants, issuing personal QR codes, taking attendance (manually, by self-scan, or by staff scan), and reporting on it. It's provided as a hosted service — there's nothing to install beyond the organizer dashboard and the check-in app.
2. Accounts
- You must be able to form a binding contract to create an account — in most places, that means being at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
- One organization account can have multiple staff devices authenticated for check-in; you're responsible for revoking access for staff who no longer need it.
3. Your data, your responsibility
You own the event and participant data you upload to Rollster. You're responsible for having the right to collect and upload it — for example, informing participants that a check-in system is in use, and complying with any policy your institution or jurisdiction requires. Rollster processes that data to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Plans and payment
Rollster is offered under these plans:
- Monthly subscription — $8.99 USD/month. Unlimited events and sessions while the subscription is active. Billed automatically each month until you cancel; canceling stops future charges but doesn't refund the current period.
- Annual subscription — $89.99 USD/year. Same as the monthly subscription, billed once a year.
- Single-event pass — $14.99 USD, one-time. Covers one event, with unlimited sessions, for 60 days from the date of payment. You may close and reopen that event as needed within the 60 days; once that period ends, the event closes and cannot be reactivated.
Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; Rollster does not store your full card details. We may change prices with notice to active subscribers before the change takes effect on their next billing cycle.
5. Cancellation
You can cancel a monthly or annual subscription at any time from your account — this stops future billing, and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. A single-event pass can't be "cancelled" in the same sense since it's a one-time purchase for a fixed 60-day window, not a recurring charge; see the Refund Policy for when a pass itself is eligible for a refund. Cancelling an account doesn't automatically delete your data — see Section 6 of the Privacy Policy for how long we retain it.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Rollster to collect data you don't have the right to collect.
- Attempt to bypass the event/organizer binding on check-in codes (for example, trying to make a code from one event validate against another).
- Interfere with the service's availability or attempt to access another organization's data.
- Use the service for anything unlawful.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep Rollster available and reliable, but it's provided "as is" without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. The offline check-in and sync feature exists specifically so a temporary connectivity issue at your venue doesn't stop attendance from being recorded. We may perform scheduled maintenance from time to time; where practical, we try to minimize the impact on active events.
8. Changes to the service
We may improve, modify, or discontinue features of Rollster over time to maintain, evolve, or secure the service. When a change materially affects what you've paid for, we'll try to give active subscribers reasonable advance notice.
9. Intellectual property
Rollster's software, source code, design, interfaces, branding, logos, and documentation belong to us or are used under the corresponding licenses. Using the service doesn't transfer any of that intellectual property to you. Conversely, the event and participant data you upload remains yours — see Section 3.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Rollster is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time — see Section 5 for how cancellation works. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, abuses the platform, poses a security risk to Rollster or other users, or doesn't pay for an active subscription. On termination, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy's retention section.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and notify active organizers by email before the change takes effect.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute arising from these terms will be submitted to the competent courts of the city of Morelia, Michoacán, México, and both parties expressly waive any other jurisdiction that might otherwise apply because of their present or future domicile.
